BLENDED MODEL

Learning that fits the young person, not the other way around

BlendED National is a secondary school providing teacher‑led, trauma‑informed learning, combining online face‑to‑face and in‑person learning with integrated wellbeing support.

Flexible learning

Each young person’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP), designed with them, their support team and parents or carers guides academic, social, and wellbeing goals to ensure the curriculum is tailored to the young person’s strengths, interests and future needs.

Learning is delivered through live and recorded sessions. Young people can engage at a pace that suits them, with tailored interventions or extensions where needed.

Life and work skills

BlendED National offers a full curriculum aligned with the Australian Curriculum, including:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities
  • Technologies
  • Health & Physical Education
  • The Arts
  • Auslan

Inquiry integrates Science, Humanities, and Technologies, with Civics and Economics to build life and job-ready skills for future pathways, further study and work.

Relationship‑Based Learning

Strong, trusted relationships sit at the heart of the BlendED model.

Every young person is supported by a partnership of a teacher and a youth worker who work closely together to understand their needs, respond with unconditional positive regard and provide consistent connection across online and in‑person experiences.

This relational approach creates the safety, trust, and predictability young people need to re-engage with learning.

Free and accessible

BlendED National is fully funded by state and federal governments.

Devices, internet access, and excursions are provided to all young people learning with us so cost is never a barrier to re-engage with education. If needed, support is provided to help young people engage in face-to-face gatherings.

In-person wellbeing and support

Wraparound support teams

Teachers deliver the online and in-person curriculum, while youth workers and allied health professionals provide online and in-person wellbeing support.

Parents, carers and guardians form part of the young person’s support network.

Community partners and NDIS providers may be included on a case-by-case basis.

Guided support

Our trauma-informed, student-centred approach ensures every young person receives support in the way they need it — at home, in local spaces or during social gatherings.

Staff work as one team to provide consistent connection, trust and wellbeing-focused guidance.

Local social gatherings

Social confidence

Weekly in-person and local gatherings provide safe, low-pressure spaces to build confidence, routine and social connection.

Young people can attend with a parent, older sibling or carer and activities are designed to be fun, engaging and tailored to best suit the needs of the young people.

Social learning

Social learning is supported through gatherings, excursions and community-based activities that foster connection and engagement with all BlendED participants in your local area.
