Yes. However, we do not ask about religion at enrolment. Our Catholic identity is lived through inclusion, compassion, and walking alongside each young person. Any engagement in religious curriculum is guided by the ILP.

An ILP is a personalised plan that responds to each young person’s learning needs, interests, and capacity. It guides their academic, social, and emotional engagement and is co-designed with the young person and their parents and carers.

Operation By Principles (OBP) is our relational, trauma-informed framework for understanding and responding to behaviour. It focuses on safety, connection, unconditional positive regard and common ground.

Yes. There are no school fees and young people are provided with devices, internet access (with child-safe monitoring) and access to gatherings and excursions.

Young people do not need a formal diagnosis or referral to apply.

BlendED National model

BlendED National is a Catholic school offering a dual-engagement model of education. It combines flexible online learning with in-person support for young people who are currently disengaged from traditional schooling.

  • Blend = flexible, dual engagement
  • ED = education
  • Inspired by Edmund Rice values of inclusion, compassion, and justice.

We adapt our approach to meet each young person where they’re at. Some may prefer text or phone contact over face-to-face interactions.

Relationships are introduced gradually and safely, guided by their Individual Learning Plan (ILP).

BlendED delivers the full Australian Curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Technologies, Health and Physical Education, The Arts and Auslan.

Inquiry integrates Science, Humanities and Technologies with Civics and Economics to develop life and job-ready skills.

Yes. While all young people engage with the full curriculum, ILPs allow a deeper focus on subjects or skills that interest them.

While our program is flexible like distance education, BlendED is a dual-engagement model that offers online learning, in-person support, social connection and wraparound support.

It includes:

  • Live online and flexible sessions
  • Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
  • Youth worker and allied health support
  • Social learning through gatherings and excursions
  • Pastoral care and community connection

Absolutely. BlendED prepares young people for life, work and further study in ways that suit their learning style.

Absolutely. Our Edmund Rice Catholic values guide us to support every young person with dignity, respect and compassion, including LGBTQIA+ students, those with complex needs and young people who have experienced trauma and need support to re-engage with education.

Families receive regular updates, communication and opportunities to engage with staff. Gatherings and excursions are designed to be inclusive and accessible.

Yes, BlendED is fully registered as a Special Assistance School in Tasmania, subject to regulatory requirements.

We are working closely with education registration bodies and following all regulatory processes to register BlendED National in other states across Australia.

BlendED supports young people experiencing School Can’t, anxiety or other barriers to traditional education. Referrals can come from parents, carers or the young person themselves. No formal diagnosis is required.

BlendED adapts to the young person’s needs. Some may prefer text or phone contact over in-person interaction. Engagement is always safe, gradual and guided by the ILP.

Attendance is flexible and guided by the young person’s ILP. Gatherings help build connection, confidence and engagement.

Local hubs are created for gatherings and excursions, typically within Local Government Areas. Activities are designed to be safe, social and inclusive.

Parents and Carers

Not in a formal teaching sense. Teachers and support staff guide each young person’s learning. Families are encouraged to remain engaged and communicate openly with the BlendED team.

No. Staff including teachers, youth workers and allied health professionals provide the teaching and support. Families are encouraged to stay connected through check-ins and communication with the BlendED team, but their role is not to teach.

Yes. Parents, carers and guardians are welcome where appropriate — especially early on — to help build confidence and routine.

We agree together on the level of communication that works best. Some families prefer weekly updates, others prefer check-ins aligned with their young person’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP) reviews.

Families are supported through:

  • Regular check-ins and communication
  • Opportunities to connect with staff and participate in gatherings or excursions
  • Guidance during transitions and engagement with their young person

That’s okay. We work at their pace, using the ILP to guide gradual, safe re-engagement. There’s no judgement — only support and understanding where your young person is at in their journey.

We can collaborate with your existing support system to create a consistent, wraparound network that works for your young person’s needs.

This is considered case-by-case. Involvement must align with the young person’s NDIS plan, meet child safety requirements and be approved by the school.

Yes. All staff are trained in trauma-informed practice and undergo child safety screening. All online and in-person spaces are designed to feel safe and supportive. For detailed information, visit our Policies here.

Yes. Interest is strong nationally. Families are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest to help plan future expansion.

All enrolled young people are full-time. However, participation can start gradually based on the ILP and increase at the young person’s pace.

Young people

You can start gradually and choose how much to attend. Gatherings help build connection and confidence, but your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) will guide what works for you.

Youth workers and allied health staff can assist with transport arrangements where needed to ensure access is manageable and inclusive.

Yes. You’ll follow the full curriculum but can explore areas you love in depth through your ILP.

Your support team will work with you to find a pace and method that suits you, with gentle guidance and no judgement.

Absolutely, BlendED prepares you for life, work, and further study — all in ways that fit your style and future needs.
